
Dubai Courts discussed the top important developments in the shipping industry. Court of First Instance held a meeting in Dubai Courts with representatives from “Baker & McKenzie”, in the presence of Judge Abdul Rahman Al-Emadi, Judge Jassem Al Zarouni, and Judge Hassan Juma. During the meeting, latest and pressing maritime transport industry developments were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, judges welcomed Dr. Habib Al Mulla, CEO of Baker & McKenzie, and commended the attention and cooperation between the two parties in order to contribute to the development of every aspect possible to improve the shipping industry. The participating parties also discussed several topics including the impounding of ships, ships arrest, lifting the impoundage of vessels, guarantees and collaterals. The implementation and application mechanism of those topics will be discussed with His Excellency Judge Jassem Baqer President of Dubai Courts of First Instance.
Representing Dubai Courts in this meeting were Ashraf Swaify, legal consultant of the Department of Disputes and Maritime Accidents, Tarek Saad, legal adviser and head of Disputes and Accidents, Maritime Department, and Amir Al Khaja, legal adviser to the Department of Disputes and Maritime Accidents.
