
The UAE-Greece Business Forum opened in Athens on Saturday, in a bid to expand opportunities, trade and investments for businesses in both countries.
The Forum was co-chaired by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Giorgos Stathakis, Greek Minister of Economy.
The Forum was attended by representatives from UAE and Greek government organisations, as well as members of the private sectors in both countries.
The Forum, organised by the ministries of economy of the two countries, looked into the potentials of cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, logistics services, tourism, agriculture, food industry and energy
In his speech before the Forum, Al Mansouri renewed UAE?s keenness to expand economic and commercial cooperation with Greece.
?Now is the right time to build new partnerships in investment and development sectors, to share experiences and best practices, and to cooperate in matters of mutual interest to our two friendly countries,? he said.
Also, the Greek minister presented a brief on the current reforms and privatisation plans undertaken by his government. He referred to the strong performance of the tourism sectors, along with structural reforms in the banking sector, which are expected to contribute to the economic recovery in Greece.
He also reiterated the Greek government?s commitment to assist the business environment, as part of plans to attract Emirati investments that will lead to increasing trade exchanges between the two countries.
Greek Economy, Development and Shipping Minister George Stathakis on Friday received United Arab Emirates Economy Minister Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, who is on an official visit to Greece at the head of a large delegation. During the visit, there were a number of targeted B2B meetings between Greek and UAE firms active in the shipping, transport, foods, exports, investments and legal services sectors.
The two ministers also met government Vice-President Yiannis Dragasakis and attended a briefing seminar entitled ?Greece on the Turning Point – New Opportunities for Emirats Companies?.
